I currently have the Luxman P-200 and looking for a replacement amp to drive my Beyerdynamic T1. I don't think the P-200 has enough power.
I'm looking for a solid state amp and narrowed it down to two choices: SPL Auditor or Musical Fidelity M1HPA. The Auditor is $100 more than the M1HPA, but with the Auditor I have to spend extra money on XLR to RCA adapters. I wanted to keep it under $1000.
My reasons for these two amps:
The Auditor because it's the most powerful solid state amp, and it has excellent reviews. My only concern is that the mid-range might sound thin and lacking bass impact.
The M1HPA because I have their M3i integrated amp for my speakers and really like its sound; full bodied (not thin) mid-range, great bass extension and impact, wide soundstage. I'm hoping their headphone amp will have a similar sound signature.
So which one would pair better with the T1? Any other suggestions for under $1000 (solid state only, no tube amps)?
