Spiral Ears SE5 Ultimate Discussion/ Impressions thread

Hi, guys!

I've seen news about new model SE6 and start thinking about selling my U18t and buying SE6. But there some questions appear, so may be somebody knows the answers. Firstly - why dont Grzegorz show technical specification?

I've seen frequency response graph for SE5reference which was made by Changstar http://www.changstar.com/www.changstar.com/index.php/topic,928.0.html . There is strong disbalance between two ears, was any explanation for this situation?

Could please also say - what size of tips do you guys generally wear with universal models- S, M or L? I want to collect statistics - are my ears big enough for SE6

Disclosing in-house measurements are not common practice in the industry. Unless you mean the common specs like impedance and sensitivity, then I have no idea. Just Spiral Ears being Spiral Ears I guess.

As for the Changstar graph, it could be due to seal variations, insert depth differences, measurement technique error or just poor channel matching from Spiral Ears themselves. If you dig hard enough, there are measurements of the SE5U out there on a standard IEC rig:

Thank you for explanation, man! Now it becomes more clearly, there are no any problems in measurements

Can I revive this dead thread to ask SE5 ultimate owners how these customs rank against newer IEMs?

Reading the list in your sig i‘d say that you absolutely dont need another iem. No matter if its the se6, the se5u nor any other

se5u seems almost like a bargain - at 2000 euros - now that TOTL CIEM prices have skyrocketed.....

I've had my SE5U's for over 26 months now. Nothing short of magical.

I can't speak to an TOTL iems as these were my first flurry.

They're somewhat analytical with great detail a fairly wide soundstage for IEMs. I was immediately struck by the great mid and sub bass. I don't have an issue with the mids which is good but can only compare them to the Shure 535s which obviously is an unfair comparison. Nice tingly highs and very good bass. Well executed Harman curve.

I almost never used mine because of a bad fit, they sounded really nice but did not know how really excellent they are.
I decided before the summer break to reshell them in universal fit, will see that Thursday.

I asked to Nocturnal Audio to reshell my SE5 Ultimate because I never fitted them correctly. The result is excellent and sound seems to remain the same as before... here are few pics.
Total cost: S$567
