So, in about 6 weeks I will be coming into about $800 thanks to my bday and some other things. I need to rebuild my headphone system.

Here's what I have so far:
Source & DAC - E-Mu 1212M
Portable Phones - KOSS KSC75
Portable Amp - Go Vibe V5 (On the way)

Here's what I need with the $800:
Home Cans - 1 open and 1 closed, if possible
Home Amp
IEM
DAP

So, go crazy. For reference, my favorite cans I owned before (as seen in profile) were the SR225's. I haven't heard anything from Senn or Beyer, but wouldn't be opposed to.

Darth Beyers Open with Covers for the home headphones. Best of both worlds! Home amp... a Millet Hybrid, PIMETA, or a Corda Headfive/Arietta.
IEM - this is tricky.
DAP - how big are you looking for?

Problem with open Darths is they would use up about $550 of the $800.

I should have added everything if possible will be bought used.

As for both a closed phone and IEM: IEM for travel, closed phone for home only so as not to annoy the GF.

I don't think you'd be able to get all of that for just $800, unless you want the lowest quality stuff out there. I'd recommend combining certain things. The DAP should run you about $200 or more, unless you're looking for a flash based hard drive. Still, it would be at least $100. Home amp will most likely be about $200 more. That leaves you with $400-500 for IEM's and two full sized headphones. Not even $200 a piece. You can cut out the closed headphones. If you can't use your open headphones, use your IEM's. Now you have $300 per item, much better. Check out the high end universal IEM's. For the full sized headphones, I have no suggestion. There's quite a bit in that range. Buy used off the FS forums to get better stuff for the prices. I don't know if I've thoroughly explained myself, but I'm kind of tired. Sorry.

I see what you are saying, Flamerz.

Maybe something like this (just threw this together):

DAP: Refurb 60G Apple iPod $250
Home Amp: Dynalo $175
IEM: UE Super.fi 3 $65
Home Can: Have $310 left for this, could be anything up to Senn 650, Ultrasone 750/2500, Beyer 880, AKG 701, Grado 325, Allessandro MS2, etc.

That could work

just dont buy everything all at once, the woah factor of each item will cut into the rest.

as for iPod $250, seems a bit of a grey area.
30g videos have been going $130-150 on ebay, i've seen it couple times a day. also creative vision 30g is consistently below $150 on ebay. either that or i'd get the 80g, even if you dont need the extra space, it also has longer battery life for playing video.

EDIT: used, of course
