WOW-I havent heard of 90% of these!
Are these all instrumental artists?
If so, are any of them on the techy/dark side?

Peanut Butter Wolf - "Jukebox 45's" (Half of the songs have lyrics, as they are remixed versions of material from artists on his Stones Throw label, and the other half have no lyrics)
Madlib - "Beat Konducta, Vol. 1-2"
Kid Koala - "Carpal Tunnel Syndrome"
The Avalanches - "Since I Left You"
MF Doom - Any of the "Special Herbs" volumes

Maybe you would like to look for Bauchklang
It is some beatbox freak gang that emulate good electro sound and are pretty much always in the dark side of things.
Ok it is beatbox but you will forget ti is as you are listening to it, realy great stuff.

Here to audition some of their stuff
http://www.bauchklang.com/_static/home_e_flash.html
go to goodies section

Earmint is pretty dope too but maybe less dark.

TTC - Batards sensibles french rap group, it's a double album with one side only instrumental, realy electro, great stuff, some realy dark stuff.

Yeah Saul kick so much ass
I have to agree with MF DOOM special herbs to since he is my god damn hero.

Another gent you ought to check out is Dälek. That man definitely did not find his way onto Ipecac by accident -- I mean, holy crap.

I believe you're referring to the type of music called trip-hop? DJ Spooky, DJ Shadow, Herbalizer and such are great trip-hop artists. They're awesome to listen to when one's not sober... and I don't mean on alchohol either.

For a way left-field one that I think matches fairly well (and I am a huge Dj Shadow fan) is Miles Davis - On the Corner. Instrumental hip-hop at its best, in many ways.

You might like the (mostly)non-vocal tracks off of Diplo - Florida, my favs are "Big Lost" and "Summer's Gonna Hurt You". More on the techy experimental side, but it seems like what you were describing.

?
Trip-hop tends to have vocals.
As stated twice, I am looking for INSTRUMENTAL HIP-HOP.

Unfortunately no.
Im finding it very difficult to find "classic" instrumental hip-hop.
Either the music has too many electronic influences or has too much cross-over with trip-hop or jazz like DJ Shadow.
Omids' "Monolith" is excellent-found a copy on EBay.

Some others I have not checked out yet:
Four Tet
Alias
Lusine
Ratatat
Ninja Tune

i can tell you right off four tet and ratatat are very electronical. Ratatat's stuff even goes as far as being 'popsy'. And no, trip-hop usually don't tend to have vocals. they do have a lot of looped samples tho...
