My ol' amp only has left & right speaker outs. I'd like to run a pair of speakers into my bedroom. A switch box seems the cheapest way but I don't want to lose sound/performance on my main speakers.
Advice?

Just use a switchbox.

If you're a believer in cables/powercords/etc., you could roll your own with several hundred dollars of expensive components.

Or just buy an A/B box from RadioShack. I've used them, they work fine.

The only problem is that you'll lose some power over a long distance of speaker interconnects. If it's 20-30 feet, it probably won't be that noticeable, or you'll just have to bump the volume knob up a hair. Not a big deal.

That is just the advice I needed!
