By that do you mean (for me, anyway...) stuff like 'stephonovich: free software' and the like? If so, that's because they're using mass mailers that tries every combination it can and appends '@gmail.com' (or @hotmail.com, @yahoo.com, etc.) to the end. Crude, but effective. Also does a marvelous job at bogging down email servers. Thanks, spammers.

I've been using gmail for months now and in total recieved one (1) spam e-mail. maybe it's because I never enter my gmail adress on websites but always my campus adress (which automatically forwards to my gmail account). a real improvement from Hotmail, where I had 4 spams daily in my inbox and about 6 that got caught in the filter.
