NEW INFO -- IMPORTANT DATE TO REMEMBER
Only about a week until the LAX Can Meet on Saturday, October 18, 2008. Interested in attending the event and yet to acquire advance admission? Here’s a very important cutoff date to remember, Thursday, October 16, 2008 is the last day to purchase advance admission at the special rate –- e-tickets: $15 per person; and MOT e-table fee: $89 per vendor. After this date, admission can only be acquired at the event at a small premium -- tickets: $20 per person; and MOT table fee: $100 per vendor. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact me via PM.
It has been far too long since Southern California had a headphone meet. We are the largest headphone community on Head-Fi and the 2009 Can-Jam host city. I hosted the last two big So Cal meets and we're long overdue for another get-together. One of the main challenges hosting a meet in Los Angeles is the cost of the meeting space. Most meets collect money at the event to cover costs with members usually contributing $10-$20. So rather than passing the hat at the meet and hope we cover our costs, my proposal is an advance ticket purchase event.
Location: Hilton Los Angeles Airport
Hotel Address: 5711 West Century Boulevard, Los Angeles, California, United States 90045
Date: Saturday, October 18, 2008
Time: 10:30AM to 6:00PM
courtesy of Edwood -- here's the map of the floor with the rooms highlighted.
-special advance purchase price on or before 10/16/08-
Members: $15 per admission e-ticket
Member of the Trade: $89 per e-table
-at the event-
Members: $20 per admission ticket
Member of the Trade: $100 per table
The hotel offers free shuttle service from LAX, running every 30 minutes for folks flying to the meet. We've contracted a special room rate of $99* per night, just contact me and I will help you book your room at the discounted rate. Alternatively, Hotels.com is currently offering the same, if not a slightly better rate so try them first -- Destination field search for LAX, Los Angeles then in the Hotel Name field search for Hilton and it should be the fourth result. The hotel also is offering us a special parking rate of $10, though, I believe street parking might be available behind the hotel. The hotel provides tables, chairs, and power plus handling the set-up and clean up. Just bring what you need such as, but not limited to power strips and conditioners, sources, amps, headphones and whatever gear you wish. Tickets are also available for friends and family as everyone is welcome and you need not bring anything to attend.
If you’re interested in attending CAN MEET, please PM me with your email address to get the advance e-ticket details and post in this thread you would like to attend and what, if anything, you plan to bring. I’ll PM you with the ticket purchase details--purchase as many tickets as you would like, please include number of guests, if any, in your PM.
Eddie Current, Smyth Research, Ray Samuels and SinglePower are all onboard!

If you received a Google eticket invoice or have my Paypal account address and purchase your eticket tomorrow before noon, you will be included in the door prizes and get a printed name tag. After 5 PM tomorrow evening, I can not guarantee eticket purchases will be processed in time for the event, though, anyone in this situation would receive a refund within two to three days.

I would like to thank everyone for their support of the Los Angeles headphone community. Plus we all owe a big thank you to zippy2001 for the wonderfully thoughtful EMI/Capitol door prizes -- thanks, Steve.
