Hello All,

Just joined head-fi, great source of info for a IEM noob such as myself.

After a huge number of recommendations on the forum, I purchased a set of re0 directly from head-direct.com and recieved them promptly, love the re0's by the way.

However, I happen to see the ranking page which had the SM3's on top, I couldn't resist so I grabbed a pair from soundearphones.com which actually sell the SM3's cheaper than from the earsonic site direct.

Am I in safe hands with them?  I am assuming yes for now.

Cheers,

soundearphones is definitely legit.  though coming from RE0's, if that is indeed your preferred sound signature, you might hate the SM3's sound/presentation...

kind of a weird choice of jump; however, as always though, ymmv, of course!

Well I previously had Sennheiser cx95's (still got them) which I thought were great.  Then I got the itch to upgrade and jumped onto this site from google.  I saw the re0's were really rated very highly and at such a low price I thought I couldn't miss.

I love the re0's sound alot, but the sm3's and the re0's were ranked 1 and 2 respectively but with such a price difference I couldn't help myself could a $80 pair of IEM's sound as good as a $300 pair .. I just had to find out.

We shall see.

Cheers,

They are great earphones, both are... no doubt; just a bit different in signature (and quite a huge leap in tiers).  Trying them out is definitely the best and only way you'll ever find "exactly" the sound type you're looking for though.

Forewarning though...  If you care for your wallet, any at all, you might want to just close your eyes and jump ship now though, because you will always be leaping from one set to another in search of your "perfect sound"...even after you have found it, money be damned.  And then there's always the new DAP, DAC, Amp, Portable Amp, just to get that little extra oomph of quality... and so on and so on... :)

Happy listening, cheers!

Indeed upgraditus is well known to me as I like my home theatre as well. But I've learned to stretch out the need to upgrade a little more these days, sm3 and re0 purchases aside. I look forward to really giving these iem's a good work out.

Arghh!!! USPS mail service seems to be total rubbish.  Tracking says my sweet sweet SM3's was shipped internationally from Chicago on the 28th of April, but no further updates from there.  5 days to get to Australia? Unless its in customs.  But then again I also ordered an Fiio E7 from head-direct.com on the same day it should be arriving today through EMS shipping.

Any possibility that USPS has lost the package or are they just super slow?

international shipping has been slow lately. Took my iPad2 4 days from Hongkong to Alaska, not counting the rest from mainland factory to hongkong, and clearing customs in Alaska, and finally from AL to OH

Wahoo ... courier just dropped off my SM3's ... can't wait to test them out tonight .. perfect timing as the wife is out with the ladies so I'll be in left in peace to fully test out these seemingly awesome IEMs.

Cheers to soundearphones.com for a sweet transaction ... now the only decision is should I now go and replace these SM3 v1 for the SM3 v2 .. decisions decisions.
