Yes. And as dd3mon said, you have to mute all the sources to get rid of it. I'm not sure that even that gets rid of it all. It was last summer that I last experimented with that. Perhaps I'll try again.

Be sure you disable the microphone boost option in the mixer for an Audigy. I always had everything muted except for wave out so I guess that's why I never noticed much noise.
