It would be interesting what Sound Rhyme will do on DTE900 with Penon suggestions…
No more hype on DTE500?
SR8 would be great but I tend to prefer DD bass
Yea it’s subjective. If you value Wu based on technical performance it will not score that high, so I guess your judgement is slightly technically inclined than mine.
I’ve stated on my scoring notes that I’m 80:20 (timbre/technicality) in evaluating IEMs, so yea that‘s very subjective.
This is my old matrix analytics chart, and you can see GS Audio ST10 $430 has pretty nice tech, but as it sounds not well tuned, it only comes to 73/100. That’s from cost to performance wise, a failure, as 80/100 any $sub100 could hit.
Yea I have my duties left to SR8, will have my hands on SR8 review.
Basic Timbre of SR8 is
unbelievably full bodied, rich and “is this IEM equipped with DTE500’s EST?” type natural yet EST class detailed treble. With almost neutral across all spectrum with default switches (0-0). Warm-Neutral. On 1-1 it will have more gain levels overall.
When you flip 1-0, it will be bass heaven, and 0-1, slightly more sparkling north of neutral treble, but that’s close to my liking.
Mean while Neon Pro has more U-tuning, on both emphasis on sub-bass and treble/air region. You will feel it has spine chilling ultimate resolution, as well as head knocking powerful bass when bass switch is flipped.
They both are undeniable TOTL class, but I find SR8 has fuller definition and layering on bass-mid, of which it plays huge role for acoustic harmony illustrations.

I think for me, it's more I like my tonality a little different than I think you do. I find Wu a little too antiseptic and clean. For me, that's probably in the midbass to lower midrange transition. But that's what the beauty of all this is. There's enough sounds for all of us

NeonPro : Mid-focused qdc neutral with U-trims (0) - Mild V (1)
If roughly scoring Neon Pro 94/100, SR8 97/100.
So it ultimately comes to “do you like warm-neutral or Mid-focused neutral with U (qdc) “, if lower range Technicalities are less of the concern.
3month ago, I didn’t even know a brand named Sound Rhyme exists, now I’ve found two of my endgame for both tribrid (DTE500), and full-BA SR8 in just couple of weeks span.
Finally “Bass is good for a BA” follow up isn’t needed anymore.
It’s as powerful as DD, and furthermore, it’s a dimension above what DD woofers are capable of in terms of harmonics and texturing as well as layering.
As a 20 year audiophile, I’ve seen the raise of IEM, from the very beginning and finally see the perfection of bass expressions.
Not LCP, not Planar, it’s nicely implemented Sonion AcuPass x4 with another 4 lower Mid BA supporting lower mid, 8BAs for lower range is what needed.

It seems like I never needed all those side grades that I own. Selling my old In Ears has become like a second hobby for me now. I still think my pack of IEMs are a fun experience to own and to experience different tunings. I would not be here if I directly went to my endgame.
My SR5 is like an allrounded while my other devices are specialists in their fields.

By the way is SR8 14BA per side or 7BA per side ? Taobao list different compare to Penon so i confuse
I double check counting but it no where near 14BA
