Hi,

first I would like to say hello to everyone in this fine community. I have recently bought a Philips SHG8200 gaming headset. It is a budget headset but has pretty good audio quality considering the price. It came with a SRS usb sound card adapter thingy. I am new to these things so that is why I decided to ask you guys for help. Is it possible that this usb sound card has better sound quality compared to my sound card? Is this just a placebo? My current sound card is a creative sound blaster audigy SE. The USB dongle that came with the headphones also has a virtual surround option which I found interesting but I will just leave it at that. Where could I find more on this subject?

Have a great and productive day,

Marko

I don't think the usb thing can do any better.

The PCI sound cards stability and the performance are better for the pro studio market, there is some improvement with the USB 2.0, but maybe the kick will be with the USB 3.0. You can get the RME 9632 for a very good price used on ebay.
