Im curious if the DAC in the Nexus 4 is lacking compared to the DAC in the Fiio E07K. Would I be able to notice a difference?
I just want some input from someone who has had both.

I am having a very hard time getting any info here. I have tried in two other threads, and received no response. So I figured it was time to start a new thread...

Nothing wrong with this forum. Its just that without doubt FIIO will be much better than Qualcomm's DAC. None of the smartphone till date has sound quality equal to FIIO's USB DAC particularly E07K and E17. May be if Voodoo sound gets released for Galaxy S3 then thats a different situation

I too am interested in this combination. I haven't read of anyone getting the E07k (or any other portable DAC/amp for that matter) to work as a USB DAC with the Nexus 4 though. From what I have read it should work great as an amp and give you a boost depending on your headphones.

Did you ever get the DAC after?  I have a E17 on the way and I am wondering if I have to do anything with the phone before hand to make sure it will work fine with a OTG cable.

Yes the S3 works well with DACs. Visit XDA Forums for more details. I do believe the S3 is plug and play with DACs, no modification required.

If you want a DAC to work with a Nexus 4 you will be required to install a custom kernel. The only kernel with DAC support is only partially functional, and will not work for daily use.
