Im about to get some SE315s and i was researching them, they are advertised to reduce sound up to 37db. Is that right? heck my electric unplugged is more than that I need to block out a drummer and sound system loud enough to shake a convention center to peices!

Is that right or is teh 37db work in some other way than I understand? I mean alien ears are only rated for 24-30db and they are supposed to almost block everything out right?

No. I had the 530s and my my DBAs and TF10s isolated more because I was able to insert them deeper. The round body type that shure and westone uses isolates around 26db at most for me while designs like the dbas, tf10s, and etys isolated 30+ for me.

but is that good? I mean i can buy a 5 dollar pair of earbuds from wal mart if all there gonna do is block out 30 db....which is like nothing right? Ive read 30db is about the measuerment of a quiet room.
