Just got my astro mixamp and ad700's, they sound great. problem is I do not care for the felt ear pads on the hp's. I find them itchy after a bit and I think I'd rather have a soft leather type.

I noticed the Sennheiser HD 448's get good reviews as do the Audio Technica M50's.

Will either of these give me similar sound the hp's i have now?

These will be used almost exclusively for playing video games, maybe a rare movie.

the HD 555 are usually compaed to the AD700 if that helps. don't know about the sound but i've heard the soundstage is better on the AD700.

instead of getting a whole new headphone, is it possible to buy audio technica pleather earpads for the ad700???

On my experience the HD 555's are better for gaming instead the 448's. The sounstage and audio positioning is very accurate.
