Sound change at all removing the Grado "button"?

I managed to get the buttons on my SR60's off pretty easily, all I did was take a solder scraping tool(it had a pointy end, anything with a thick pointy end may work), find a half closed hole under each button, insert, and pry up slowly. It was very easy to do, and I didn't have to worry about any cosmetic issues when it was all said and done, besides the 'no buttons' look.

You mean where the button is covering up a hole half way?

Ok, update on my SR-60s!

I didn't like the way I had one button off... it looked a little weird...

Soooo...

I went for the other one. I didn't use any preparations for this one either. I used grabbed the pliers and dove in. The second one came off easier... but a bigger piece of plastic came off!

So now I was left with a tiny hole on the left, big hole on the right! It's just looking dumb now.
So I thought... what the hell, lets's open it up and take the grill out completely...

I put the cups in hot water to soften the glue up and easily opened it up. Great! ... not exactly... the grill wasn't exactly easy to take out either...
I spent an hour ripping it out bit by bit because it was glued in tight along the inside edge. The hot water didn't really help much except with the opening of the cups.

Now my SR-60s have no grills (now completely destroyed and thrown away! The badges too!). Next on the list: re-cabling!! Yay~!

Without the grill.. I can say that the sound has opened up VERY slighty. I do find it a little more enjoyable, and it's starting to sound a little close to my HD600s.

Yep, exactly. It basically lets you snag the bottom of the button as you pry up.

Don't fret too much. You have a great opportunity to get some nice metal grilles and go for some Starquad cable! Personally, I'd do this, but instead of just settling for the metal mesh grille, why not metal mesh earcups?
If I can figure out a way to get the shape out of the material I want, I'm going to do this immediately. My SR60's will end up resembling K1000's, but I can only wonder how they'll sound compared to stock!

I wouldn't want to do that, I think that will affect the resale value (if you ever plan to sell the SR60). Personally, I won't want to buy something with irreversible aesthetic-only modded. That's IMHO.

How about getting teh MS-1

Of course it's my opinion, but a Grado without it's badge is like a Mercedes without the emblem or a Delorean without the DMC in front. It's just... odd.
