Sony XBA-N3AP and XBA-N1AP — Impressions thread

Depending on who you ask, you will either have people hard deny you that there is no benefit in sound with different cables (except if one is broken or something). And some that will tell you it expands the soundstage and makes the sound a tier above.

Personally I am in the placebo camp. So I will say no. and I also dont rec it. Much better to use that money on a better amp and just get one of those 3 budget cables that are actually very good.

Ok great, thanks for your help. I think I'll try the Kbear Rhyme - looks very similar to what came with the Hidisz MS4 which as I mentioned, I really love.

Just occurred to me and maybe a silly question but can the cable straighten to not go over the ear?! Looking at pictures of the type I ordered and while its correct in that its 4.4mm and MMCX, it does have the over ear hook like below...

You can remove the plastic ear hooks. Use something like a needle, small scissor or a sim card ejector to remove it.

Guys, where do we go next? I still use the N3's everyday but I refuse to remove them from my desk so they don't break. Is there anything else under $500 which might sound better? (Tried the XBA's and did not like the harsh treble)

I've been using a pair of N3s on my commute for about 3 years now. They've been squashed in my bag, sat on, the cable has been caught on stuff numerous times, dropped god knows how many times, and they're still working as if new.

Mind you I did buy a second pair - just in case

My N3 are almost with me... they were shipped Express last Monday but delays in Hong Kong - very frustrating checking the tracking every day and seeing the status as still Hong Kong... they are finally in Europe as of today, I expect them to land with me Monday hopefully and then put under the tree with my ZX507 - the excitment :)

Did you get some wide bore tips? Also be prepared to burn them in a bit.

Haven't bought any other tips yet but was planning to experiment with Final tips from my E5000 and whatever the N3 comes with. I do plan to grab the Spirals which @F700 recommended.

So much love for the N3 lately. Very nice to read these statements for the ultimate underdog (in my opinion)
