Sony XBA-N3AP and XBA-N1AP — Impressions thread

Just bought N3, looking forward to use them with my WM1Z and Sony Kimber cable.

Maybe a bit more bassy than Z1R if reviews are correct?

You may like 3.02 firmware update as it is possibly the best way to use the N3 and 1Z together. 3.02 update is the most midcentric, but also has the biggest soundstage for the 1Z. Be careful joining the Kimber/Sony MUC-M12SB1 as times it was really grips the MMCX. Actually I’ve never joined the cable with the N3, as if I did I would never try and remove it.

But the N3 IS slightly more bass heavy than the IER-Z1R and XBA-Z5. Though it’s really a one of a kind fit and sound. Enjoy!

3.02 on the WM1Z actually won me over to get the N3. Expecting good synergy!

Thanks for the confirmation and will keep the N3 attached to the SB1:)

Thanks, do they have any specific impact to the sound?

It’s funny I can normally regulate many small fractions of change to sound with either different tips or movements of the IEM? But the N3 fits in such a consistent way it voids any such variation in tone; so it’s more of a comfort thing. Maybe just a slightly better change in outside noise canalizations?

Cheers!

As long as you use wide bore tips with good seal you can't really go wrong. Wide bore make such a difference to N3, they punch well above their price point IMO. I'm struggling to let mine go!

Planning to use JVC Spiral Dots. Seem to be well regarded for use with the N3?

I was curious for something which could eventually reduce the bass impact...sometimes I feel is hitting too hard.

Wide bore tips should help with that - the narrow bore stock tips almost act like a low pass filter to increase the bass (I believe due to the so called "reverse horn" effect). You can also try a front vent mod if that is not enough (search for jvc fx850 mods).

Need some help;

I have N3AP, very very good IEM for me. But put them cable down has too much microphonic.
Any similar price range IEM have similar tone but overear?
Chi-Fi also ok, and I expect a cheaper price tag can do?

Thanks
