i guess i was listening to some late model R10s (bozebutton's pair) because with the Stealth, the Solo, the SR71, and the Earmax Pro, the R10 kicked butt with all of them and had plenty of bass on the bottom.

The late model R10 really isn't very picky. Bozebuttons is from 2002 or 2003 I believe. It sounds good with a variety of amps but it has the ability to scale to greatness when hooked up to great components (like his EMM Dac6 and Cary 300 for example

My R10 is new (serial number near 1,150), and sounds terrific out of my SDS. While I also like my K1000 and RS-1, the R10 is clearly better. The source material is most important, however. Listening to the R10, when using an inadequate CD or SACD, will usually disappoint.
