I have the same configuration: ZX707 with Focal Elegia but I apply some EQ based on hearing and curves/analysis found on the net for Elegia reviews. No EQ needed according to you?I have serious doubts about the measurements of the 707 Japanese version. I explain. In a direct comparison with the Fiio Q7 in ultra high gain (3W per channel at 32 ohm) and using the Focal Elegia (with Dekoni Sheepskin pads) for 4.4mm. Well, the 707 offers exactly the same power, body and output volume in high gain only with 22-23 steps more volume. I mean, what in the Fiio is resolved with 40/120 in the Sony we only go to 62-63./120. Don't ask me how it is possible, but the only explanation is the Sony's 100% digital amplifier type. It sounds really impressive with the Focal Elegia and without any need for EQ.

Can check the country designation on the box label, if you can get a photo of the box label. A Japanese model will have "J"I got it off eBay, it says it was a Japanese import, also paid customs tax into UK so maybe it wasn't. Is it possible to check from the model number?

At this point I'm not really concerned. Left it too long in a drawer and it bricked itself. Contacted a Sony dealer and their response was 'we don't deal with music players'. No alternative dealer recommendations or anything. Short and blunt response. So Sony, if you are listening, here is a middle finger to you lolCan check the country designation on the box label, if you can get a photo of the box label. A Japanese model will have "J"

Why can't we just manually download updates for the zx707? It would much faster to update this way

My zx707 is still in burn-in process (roughly 12 hours) and I find it overly bright. Will it get darker over time?
In my experience, a device will not become more bright or more dark regardless of how many hours you have used it. If it's that much "brighter" than your normal source that requires you to describe it "overly bright," then you might have a defective product. My zx707 is still in burn-in process (roughly 12 hours) and I find it overly bright. This hobby is very subjective, I get a nice warm sound from the 707 compared to my other DAP’s. Thought about changing the headphone/iem’s ? What are you pairing them with?My zx707 is still in burn-in process (roughly 12 hours) and I find it overly bright. Will it get darker over time?
You only own overly bread Headphone/Earphone^^ The ZX700 is pretty neutral, so it makes your Earphones/Headphones sound the way they sound. Some call the ZX700 rather warm, but i personally would just say neutral. But it is not bright, that is for sure.My zx707 is still in burn-in process (roughly 12 hours) and I find it overly bright. I mainly pair it with UM Mest mk2. I don't think anyone ever called it bright With my se300ti, those iems offer a relaxing listening experience, with deep and lush sub-bass. I also had that with the 507. It's very different with the 707, much more incisive... I guess I'll get used to it. Or do some tip rolling

Yeah. I don't think any eq would soften those attacks I'm hearing. It's probably just a matter of synergy. It's much better with my Isabellaes, for instance
Ah wait, do you use the UM Mest Mk2 with silicone? Could you test them with foam, just to verify?I mainly pair it with UM Mest mk2.
