Hey,

Has anyone jumped from a Cowon Plenue R2 to an uncapped ZX707?

I'm going to Japan soon and might be tempted. My Plenue R2 works fine and I love Cowon but I might wanna try something more modern. Plus seems like Cowon is definitely out of the DAP game...

Of course. A-Ranked used items at e-earphone are pretty much indistinguishable from new Items.

I've had pr2 and sold it. have the jp zx707 now. sq wise, they're on the level. if you like jeteffect on cowon, it's hard to find a good replacement. sony's sound adjustment features are not as articulate. i do stream mostly which is why 707 works better for me. 707 also works well as digital usb and bt transport, something pr2 sucks at with its outdated bt chip and optical output. i'd probably keep pr2 if you listen to offline library. they're also very hard to find nowadays.

I checked and A-Ranked ZX707 aren't far from brand new ones (only about ¥2,000 difference).

That is true, its still brand new. There are secret sales form time to time with up to 30% savings, maybe one is going on when you come. Connect to e-earphone at line to not miss it

I just google translated Sony JP page and it was written 230+230mw(16ohm). I wonder if other uncapped region have the same output power? 230mw should be more than enough for most IEM. Thank you for the info.

Shameless self-plug here but I am considering letting go of my ZX-707. I don't really have time to listen to it as I love my WM1Z too much. Mine is an uncapped, Japanese version.

All uncapped versions have same specs on power whether it is balanced or unbalanced jack

I just find out that the ZX707 balance output have 2.4 ohm output impedance. Is it bad? The unbalance one is 1.2ohm.
