Thanks for confirming this. I really cannot understand Sony on this matter.

Japanese car has ZX507 as source.
it's the law
All other brands except Sony sell their regular uncapped products at everywhere including EU. Only Sony obeys to this regulation, which doesn't make sense.

So are iBasso Fiio et al breaking the law?it's the law
More likely some EU recommendation that only Sony adhere to rather than law.

It's law. And yes, iBasso, FiiO and the like are not in compliance. They're such niche product manufacturers and don't have the benefit of conducting large scale business outside that niche in the EU, that I suspect nobody really cares. In Sony's case, they're a large phone seller in the EU, and likely had to come into compliance when the law was enacted, being stymied by their own success in a manner of speaking. So are iBasso Fiio et al breaking the law?

Here's an article for reference and maybe giggles: https://www.bbc.com/news/health-21294537
That said, I'm looking for a streaming DAP. While the A&K SR15 was recommended for my needs, I'm also exploring other options. Would this Sony ZX507 or (505?) be a good option for someone who primarily uses IEMs at low volumes? Particularly for someone who will stream music, stream audiobooks, as well as listen to audiobooks and music from storage?
Frankly, the ZX507 has the serious edge in design over the SR15. While the SR15 set a low bar with it's unhinged-door approach to the screen, the Sony looks downright sublime, even without comparison to Frankenstein's monster.
Oh, and how's battery life on it? Can you get 8 hours continuous streaming?

The volume cap regulation only makes sense, if the player is sold together with headphone/earphone. When you only buy the player, how on earth anyone would know what headphone you are going to use it with? The max volume level is coming from the combination of player and headphone.
I was under the impression, this volume cap is only mandatory for player/headphone combos... Capping a standalone player is idiotic and clearly shows how ignorant the people are who come up with these regulations. Doesn't make any sense (as a lot of stuff in the EU).

Maybe (in a few years!) in the UK these regulations on loudness capping will be dropped? The volume cap regulation only makes sense, if the player is sold together with headphone/earphone. BREXIT!
If so then IMO the best thing to happen after BREXIT!
To hell with ignorant EU apparatchiks.

very good album out of the 507, via the M9 or an Ocharaku.
incidentally, and maybe a known fact, can't use both jacks at the same time. the 4.4mm takes precedence.

Ok first impressions i am using the Fiio F9 pros in-ears ...its got a nice bass slam to it and the mids sound nice and thick the treble is a bit soft to my ears ....soundstage is narrow ...i detect a slight harshness to the sound ..it definitely needs some burn in ..but overall i like it i just love the warm lush Sony sound this produces .

M9 really needs 4.4mm to shine with the zx507. It brings out the soundstage magic. Balanced also makes M9 sound more quicker in transients response.
On another note:
@Whitigir
The Japanese driver is using an expensive audiophile Sony car audio head unit that supports LDAC and has ESS Sabre DAC:
