I just found out this thing doesn't support gapless playback of lossy files, unless it's atrac? And I need the japanese version, which has no english language option, to play atrac?

That's a real bummer.
atrac not possible only Japanese model,

Gapless support mine works with lossless FLAC, alac and wave

International model (aka no Japanese) supports gapless with: FLAC, Apple lossless (ALAC), wave and AIFF

Japanese Model same as international + atrac

That's really disappointing. The biggest reason I stuck with atrac is the gapless playback, and now to get gapless playback I have to put giant ass files on it and get less battery life when playing them?

Man what the hell

I wanted to ask, using Media Go to transfer does the Walkman list artists in the correct alphabetical order? For example the issue I have with the older mp3 Walkmans is that it would "The Beatles" under T instead of B.. Is this still an issue with the nwzx100 as it seems to sort the artists correctly in Media Go

I get arround 56h with FLAC (16 and 24 bit mix), "Big ass files" LOL i fit like 19000+ FLAC files with 200GB microsd  + 128GB internal.. FLAC is the 50% or 60% of  a wave file (wave is raw file so 100%)

On the A17 it ignores the "the" in library view of artists and albums. Of course in folder view it will still appear under T.
In MediaGo it is by default setting to ignore "The". But in MediaGo you can set the sorting anyhow under properties.

and mp3 256 is 25% of flac, it's a waste of space, it's a waste of battery, and it's a waste of transfer time (and this player doesn't even use usb 3.0? jesus christ)

good for you, but this doesn't make the internal storage any faster

another aspect where DAP makers are overcharging for selling outdated technology. Seems DAP makers are skipping USB 3.0, the new Cayin i5 will have USB C.

Seriously, for 700 dollars it's bad enough I have to use a proprietary cable. I used to own an nw-hd3 and having to use that stupid adapter thing to charge and transfer was annoying already, and it was always too loose in the player and then it stopped charging because it was a cheap piece of plastic and nothing ever fit right.. They got it right with the hd5 but they're taking steps back again.

I don't get it, I don't get how they can justify 700 dollars for this.
