SONY NW-ZX100

I cant wait to get this cause i'm guessing the next walkman release will be in the $1500-$2000 price range.

This proves again that what Astell & Kern did is quite bad for our hobby.  Remember the first Andriod Z1070 was only $350 and it was quite a good sounding device.  The F807 & F887 were less $350 as well and those were top of the lines.  Now the TOTL DAP usually carry $1000 price tag if not much more.

I mean... that's just like... your opinion mannnn.  LOL JK

Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.  I just felt the designs on the ZX1/2 and even the A10 series were GREAT and this was just lazy IMO.

If you really wanna offend me, knock the Cayin N5.  lol

I agree.  The entire AK line looks like an ill gotten attempt at 3-dimensional cubism.  The ZX100 isn't the prettiest DAP in the land but I think the button placement is spot-on for my needs.  Since it's not a touchscreen, side placement would be odd IMHO.  As I stated earlier, I can do without the touchscreen and Android in order to maximize battery life, since neither of them contribute to my audio experience.

I was misinformed, since this isnt touch the buttons make sense.

No doubt this player offers hella-functionality and battery life and I'm sure it sounds great.

Purk your thoughts, do reckon it's an upgrade albeit a Android free one?...

I don't want to speculate, but I think the ZX100 will be better than the ZX1 sound wise but fall just short of the ZX2.  I love listening to my ZX2 but I would love something a little smaller that sound almost as good.  The ZX100 at or around $700 is not cheap but not way overpriced either.  It seems that the S-Master Pro HX has really mature as it has been used since the ZX1/F887.

As I said, I did a comparison side by side with my ZX1 in the Sony building on the IFA. To me they sound exactly equal in a short comparison, which is good, as I like the sound of the ZX1. I am satisfied with the battery life of my ZX1 right now and the build quality of the ZX100 is sub par compared. I can skip this one easily.

Not bad for people who have money or people like me who set an objective and save money for it
