SONY NW-WM1Z M2 / WM1A M2

Agreed, it has been my experience prior selling it.

A step back for me who prefer an analogue, relaxed, warm sound.
1ZM2 is warm and analogue sounding. I haven’t heard AM2 so can’t comment about it.
I have seen many selling Walkman after pairing it with IE600 or 900 series. Is it bad pairing ? Not sure…

I also didn't like how the IE600 and IE900 sounds with the WM1AM2(fw 1.01). Treble is just way too sharp sounding for me, with IE900 being worse.

Ordered a 512 Swissbit.
SFSD512GN1AM1TB-I-XH-211-S
Should be the good industrial one.

You can compare the more detailed datasheet:

S50U
https://www.mouser.com/datasheet/2/615/swissbit_02162021_S_50u_data_sheet-2013720.pdf

S55U
https://www.farnell.com/datasheets/3714376.pdf

There's some differences in the read and write performance and IOPS. There's also some slight differences in the DC characteristics as well but nothings seems too big of a difference in my opinion.

Also the S50U datasheet seems already outdated given it doesn't list 512GB.

Sorry everyone for misappropriating the thread a bit. It's so hard not to. And this is a fun distraction from what I'm supposed to be doing.

Nice record :)
Thank you! I love the whole thing. It's one of my favourite post '92 releases. Such upbeat melancholy

This is currently my top 5 albums:
1000032824.jpg

Front Line Assembly - WarMech
1000032823.jpg

Hans Zimmer - Dune Sketchbook
1000032825.jpg

Violent Femmes - Why Do Birds Sing?
1000022644.jpg

Pet Shop Boys - Introspective
1000022602.jpg

Teeth Of The Sea - Hive

... And let's just say it. This update has glare. Let's hope they dial it back a bit in a future update. But if they do, guaranteed I'll want it back again :)

Nice, appreciate this. I’ll have to try it out and maybe get one of the newer versions down the road.

When Sony makes these updates, I imagine they test them on new and mature units. I wonder if they try to balance catering to both. I would hope they favor the mature unit. Perhaps I'm just 1200 hours away from unlocking fw1.08's true potential.

Okay friends, during 1.5 years of reading reviews, debating on Head-Fi, demo-ing 10+ times, one DX320 and 3 amp cards later..., never once I thought I would finally pull the trigger on the Gold Brick! My Sony Signature Series combo itch is finally scratched (NW-WM1ZM2+IER-Z1R)

Couple of cool and not cool things I noticed, (gonna be a rant, feel free to skip) :D
Cool things:
> The gold chassis is soooo beautiful.. I mean, yeah you can argue that 1AM2 is cheaper or so, but after so many years of buying audio stuff (since iBasso DX50 in 2013 or so..) this is hands down the most beautiful thing I have in the collection
> I don't know about all the talk the 200hrs burn in.. but at the first minute I plugged in my IER-Z1R on 4.4mm; it sounds glorious out of the box.. maybe new toy syndrome/placebo, but it benefits me hehehe. If it's this good now, wonder how at 200hrs!
> The leather case is surprisingly good quality! As a fan of leather cases for my Airpods, iPhone, watch straps, Sony gave us a good case..
> The screen is actually quite pretty once on a standalone basis; although it's smaller than DX320 it has pretty good color reproduction and refresh rate is decent.
> It came with 3.5mm and 4.4mm covers; my first time seeing these on a DAP

Not cool things:
> Why isn't a screen protector provided for a $3K device?! Even my DX320X at half the price came with one..
> Coming from iPhones and even DX320, this feels much slower. Even to install spotify took couple minutes. But I understand it's due to a slower CPU for lower noise and better battery life
> Z2 gets pretty warm, especially when charging. I'm sure it's a good heat warmer in winter (none here where I live)

So excited to write more but it's 4am here so I will be listening more and posting more over the next few days. Now to get to that 200hrs and follow the optimization guide..
Cheers guys for making this journey so fulfilling - reading 964 pages with a Ctrl+F "zm2" was not easy but it was all worth it :beerchug:
