If Sony were caught and fine for selling non cap DAP in EU, I bet there will be many calling Sony out for being greedy and blah blah blah… so just grow up and stop the rant about it…
Uhm. No.If Sony were caught and fine for selling non cap DAP in EU, I bet there will be many calling Sony out for being greedy and blah blah blah… so just grow up and stop the rant about it…
Ah… when they were tucked in a corner on the top floor of Adelphi.Sorry for the confusion re: Uncle Wilson, he wasn't handing audio stuff for free, what I meant that he was the one giving the IEMs/headphones to those visiting the shop (during the time when Jaben was just a hole-in-the-wall shop in Adelphi, and you had to sit on the plastic chairs and try the IEMs/headphones on the plastic tables); those were the days when Uncle Wilson was still very much hands-on in running the shop. But yeah, Jaben was also doing some raffles back then (I won a micro amplifier that can be run with a single AAA haha).
And yes, I totally agree with this hobby being a second full time job. I am just thankful that I am able to enjoy listening to music using great audio equipment (even though I couldn't listen to music as much as I did back in the day).
Oh yes I do understand that. How do you propose Sony/EU add a useable volume limit that would work with any headphone/IEM. This is the best compromise they could come up with.
The only way they could make it work would be to hardwire a headphone/IEM straight to the player I don't think anyone would buy that. Perhaps they would buy it and then you would see people offering to mod players with a 4.4mm socket to get around the restriction.
As I said if you don't like the cap don't buy Sony. Buy the Cayin, iBasso, Fiio or whatever player that doesn't restrict outputs and use it responsibly or live with the consequences later in life.
How and from where ?Since Yen is at all time low right now, is it a good idea to import the M2 from japan?
good question i should look into it, but it will most likely involve proxy and some service fee. heck, it is roughly 25% off with the current exchange rate. How and from where ?
Yes. But it is more worth it to get WM1ZM2.. You don't save much getting the WM1AM2.Since Yen is at all time low right now, is it a good idea to import the M2 from japan?
From Japan and ship via 3rd party delivery service. How and from where ?
That is not a solution to the "problem" of protecting peoples ears. My LG V50 has this feature too and driving my new MACH 80 IEM (66 ohm 104dB) which switches the phone to high impedance mode. At volume level 25, less than 1/3 of the available output the volume is already starting to get uncomfortable for me.They could have spoke to LG. They seemed to manage it with impedence detection an LG V30 had 3 power levels depending on what you plugged in to the headphone socket.
Absolultely no other producer has this problem. Even the Sony Xperia 1 III I tried could drive more off its 3.5mm than the EU capped ZM2 I tried.
It must massively dampen Sony DAP sales in Europe by now.
So ~ 1Billion European ears are precious but other 7 Billion plus in world arn't? Give it a break. We end up having to import. That is not a solution to the "problem" of protecting peoples ears. There are high impedance and high sensitivity IEM's and headphones out there.
