Is there any chance in hell the AM2 might undergo a "stealth" upgrade to the CPU to the one found in the ZX707? Users are reporting much improved user experience vs the AM2.

i don't think so. the most you can do is to follow the optimization steps mentioned in the forum.

Usually, high gain option removed as well as volume cap.

1AM2 & 1ZM2 volume cap only affects UK/EU. With A300 series and ZX700 series they seem to have added US, Canada and Singapore to capping too.
I just checked and mine, bought in Canada, has the option in settings to control High gain output individually on both the 3.5 and 4.4 jacks as well as the option to enable volume limit.

If it's kept high gain then its not capped IMO, though others have said new capping affects US & Canada.

Yep. and those optimization steps make it very good. I haven't noticed any slowness and the UI experience has been good.
Good to know, thanks

Actually perhaps the 300 series is better used for this purpose (uncapped of course). The 707 seems a little bigger than what i might want for a super portable player

Someone had asked about battery life with hi res streaming so here are some timed results

Using balanced out with my MDR Z1R; volume at 53/120 (uncapped version), 30 minutes of streaming on high res on + spotify, no other processing or EQ, battery went from 75% to 69%.

So that comes out to 6% every 30 minutes or 12% every hour. So probably 7-8.3hrs continuous streaming on full sized heaphones balaned. Probs can get more out of IEMs I would imagine.

Hope this helps!
