just want to share here, I'm newbie here and I'm not an expert at dad at all, but I just audition some dap today at the shop
currently I'm using wm1a with my ier z1r and very happy with it, if I could change a thing about it is the dynamic, in some fast paced song the wm1a for me a bit lagging.
but overall sound quality is superb and really suits me well.
So cut the story short, I was planning to get the zx707 cause I my dap to be able to stream from Apple Music.,
so I went to a store today to audition them, I brought my Z1R to test it out
-ZX707 singapore version , no high gain, volume 120/120 on my z1r is still too low to listen comfortably, so a definite pass.
since I'm at the store already, I tried several dap.
here's my finding, all paired with my her z1r
-Hiby R8 , sounds very good and powerful, mids noticeably more pronounced than WM1A, overall warmish sound , good bass, smooth upper, but the player itself feels like a brick cause it's very very heavy.
-hiby RS 6 , surprisingly among all the dap that I tried today, sound wise I like this the best, powerful bass, a tad less pronounced mid than the R8 but I like it this way, smooth treble, a bit smoother overall than the powerful R8.
-ibasso DX320, sounds ok, but a bit too "thin" for me, bass drier, vocal while pronounced, it feels less warm, and the highs is a little harsh. and the build quality of the DAP is worse than Sony's and Hiby's IMHO.
-wm1am2 , hmmm, basss was good, powerful, but not as "round" as the HibyRS6 , mid is a bit recessed and I find it a little bit not smooth? , highs is very good, and not as smooths as the hobby, but somehow I like it this way, it's airier.
compared to WM1A, the M2 sounded totally different to me.
mark 1 is sweet sounding warmish but not bright enough especially in upper range.
mark 2 is more dynamic, bigger and faster bass, much brighter upper, the only let down is the mid which are less warm and also more recessed.
but in the end I get the wm1am2, because I prefer the look and feel of the DAP, and also I don't want to buy a hobby or any chili and find that in the few months there's gonna be a successors for it, if you know what I mean.
