How many apps have you disabled and uninstalled ? On Ibasso and Cayin, there could be 70-85 apps disabled. Streamings and essentials features is still functioning just fine
I am more cautious about what I have uninstalled. So this is the apps uninstalled so far:

Google Assistant com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox
Google Photos com.google.android.apps.photos
Google Docs com.google.android.apps.docs
Google Maps com.google.android.apps.maps
Google Calendar com.google.android.calendar
Gmail com.google.android.gm
Google TV com.google.android.videos
Google Duo com.google.android.apps.tachyon
Digital Wellbeing com.google.android.apps.wellbeing
Google Location History com.google.android.gms.location.history
Android Sound Recorder com.android.soundrecorder
Android Accessibility Suite com.google.android.marvin.talkback
Speech Services by Google com.google.android.tts
Google Store App Feedback com.google.android.feedback
Print Service com.android.bips
Google Workspace/Enterprise Management com.android.managedprovisioning
Printer Spooler com.android.printspooler
Calendar Sync com.android.providers.calendar

another interview type of article with Sony engineers:
https://online.stereosound.co.jp/_ct/17538308

Tanaka Some of our customers are worried that the Android OS may affect the sound, but don't worry because we are taking proper measures.

Asakura : Are there so many users who care about the Android OS?

Sato : Not so much overseas, but especially in Japan.

Sekine There are two main points that users care about.

First of all, it may generate noise in terms of hardware. Of course, since digital processing is performed at high speed, it is a fact that digital noise is generated regardless of whether it is Android or not. For this, we adopted a design that separates the audio circuit and the digital block.

Also, many people are worried that the sound will get worse by passing through the Android OS. Certainly, there is a restriction that a general Android device cannot pass a 384kHz / 32-bit signal. However, since we have adopted a dedicated bus design, we can reproduce 384kHz / 32-bit signals without any problems.

On the contrary, as a merit, you can use high resolution distribution applications such as Amazon Music and Apple Music. As for the signal, 192kHz / 32bit playback is possible, and since it is delivered at high resolution, consideration is given so as not to deteriorate the sound quality.

Not because gryphon is bad, i think i started with a sensitive iem. So i had to decide changing either 1 to get better music. I do hope the next ifi product can be more considerate for sensitive iem instead of hitting high power.
Well isn’t high power output also what some here wanted too? You can’t have your cake and eat it. High power comes along with its advantages and disadvantages too. Heat dissipation issues which is going to affect the thermal design which leads to use bigger heat sinks or use of costly advanced thermal solutions. Also higher power output designs will also inevitably lead to more thermal Johnson-Nyquist noise generated.

There are certainly ways to reduce hiss and noises through the use of clever electrical engineering but I think it’s all about how much compromise is made between effectively reducing noise while retaining as much signal clarity as possible. Too much noise reduction in an audio system will definitely take a hit to the reproduction of fine sound details.(this is more evident in the days of analog tapes where they use Dolby Noise Reduction Type A or B or C)

heat generated isn’t all bad. It depends on the thermal equilibrium parameters of the components. In high end and discrete designs, thermal equilibrium is an absolute necessity. Because electrical components have thermal coefficients, and at a specific temperature they are operating at their optimized and utmost performances. It isn’t always the case of more heat = more noises as one would think.

Compromises for portable systems is very real, and there can only be so much to gain/trade off for sure

Also, the merits of it is when you root it, grand kernel access, and govern CPU cores. You can govern specific cores for just Audio apps that run in the foreground. Background and all other non related to audio apps will be run by other cores. This is the most significant improvements in sound quality.

If so Sony should have not have included all the Google bloatware and made it optional or easily removeable by the user, however it's very likely Sony has some financial incentive from Google, which contradicts the purpose of a high end player. Such interviews are simply extensions of the sales & marketing department...

Any data about real battery life playing FLAC files or Quobuz/Tidal streaming?

The spec sheet anounces 40h :astonished:
