Hello fellow Head-Fi'ers,

I was experimenting with my NW-HD5 , my Fiio E5 and a pair of MDR-NC60 NC headphones (Japan Edition w/ Japan-only 0.5m cord), and I noticed a huge volume dfference between using this combo both with my RM-MC40ELK remote and with my E5, and also without the remote, using line out.

The volume from the onboard (HD5's) 5mW amp was always weak, but when I used the line out with the E5 it sounded much louder, but, I could not use this combination with my 40ELK remote, as when it's plugged into the remote/phones jack the unit automatically switches itself to the phones out as opposed to the line out, and there is a huge SQ and volume difference between them.

Is there a firmware hack available to allow me to use both the remote and line output at the same time? I would love both the SQ and volume of the line out combined with the versatility, control and convenience the remote has.

I can see this picture: HD5 line-out > RM-MC40ELK remote > Fiio E5 > Sony MDR-NC60 NC phones

Can any of you, my fellow HD5 users here on Head-Fi make it happen?

Thanks,

Ray Jackson
