I think they sound okay with the Red: pretty smooth and fluid.

I came across a deal on a Z7M2 used in the forums that was too good to pass up. So I’m back in the Z7M2 game lol. When I bought a pair for full retail on Amazon a year ago it was only my second Sony headphone. A year later it will be my fourth. So I’m looking forward to being able to compare them with the IER-M9 and original Z7. Along with the 1AM2.

Same here, just bought my 2nd set of SONY's moments ago... my first pair are over 20 yrs old [back in the late 90's]
I went for that Aussie deal with the favorable exchange rate & got a new set for $299 >D
Next up will be the Z1R

Hell yeah dude! That's a steal for a new pair! I got a used pair for $175, which is insane. I wasn't too impressed a year ago at full Amazon retail ($900). But for sub 200 this headphone should be a MUCH better value.

Working, excellent condition with box and all accessories! I couldn’t believe it. I saw the ad probably 15 minutes after he posted it. I wasn’t the first to message him and say I wanted it, but I was the first who had a trader history and a history on this site. I wasn’t even planning on buying one! But at that price it’s impulse buy territory for me. I have wanted one ever since acquiring all these other Sony headphones though.

I'll believe you will, especially with Kimber Kable upgrade is another level or two up. Enjoy!

Properly driven the HD800, the HD800 is neck to neck to Susvara. It takes a really good amp to get there though.

Any amp in particular that you like best with HD800?

ECP L3 is the best amp I have tried it so far. The ECP Ravenswood DSHA-3 is the next best following by the Audio-Technica HA5050H then Headamp GSX mini or the old Headroom Max Balanced or Home Balanced with Max module.

One thing, that never gets mentioned, is how heavy the Kimber Kable is. It takes away from how light and comfortable the headphones are. I personally would look elsewhere. I have that cable for my, Z7's, and don't even use it.

Kimbers are so nice looking that a lot of buyers can't resist them.

I think they should be fantastic with the 1A. They sound great with the ZX300 and the 1A is more powerful with better internals. Pretty sure the Z7M2 was designed with the 1A in mind. A lot of their promotional material shows it plugged into the 1A.
