If there's one thing I despise about this damned headphone it's how wide the ear cups are. I mean I use this thing a lot so I've knocked it on the side of my table more than a couple of times when I dropped my pencil, rearranged cables, fell asleep while reading, etc... Apparently Mahogany and Beech table tops are a bit harder than the Zelkova housing... :\

Can anyone tell me if there's any way to cover up small wood scuffs (chips?) and dents? Nothing sinister.

I is a college graduwate and I didn't spend 5-6 grand for a pair of headphones.

Although I make more than 25K a year.

No doubt. That's what has me coming back to the R10's. There's also the holographic soundstage, imaging, and detail too.

Not to sound morbid, but I'd probably need inheritance money to afford 5-6 grand headphones. Considering I make around 20,000 a yr, I spend a lot on audio gear.. 5,000 since 06.. Of course, I don't do anything else besides work & go home.. & no social life.

See if you spending nothing (on audio gear) for 2-3 years you too could own r10s...

I also had a second pair; funny story how that came about. I ordered a pair for $2k on Amazon (some people might remember that controversial fiasco), and then a pair from Hart at Audio Advancements - one of the last ones he had - expecting the Amazon thing to be a farce and that it wouldn't ship. Lo and behold about a month later the Amazon order came and I had two R10s! I quite regret selling them if only because I don't know what I'd do if something happened to mine. They are far and away the best headphones I've ever heard, and yes, I've heard the HE90 and O2 (though not in the best systems).

I have a great job; I play online poker professionally... No, seriously!

It pays well but is quite detrimental to my mental and physical health. Nothing like investing a grand or so on a hand as a 95% favorite and losing.

Well, 5-6 grand is quite a lot of money.

Listening to #0734. They are the best headphones I own, but must admit they are not "perfect." But then again, what is?

Right now, the best bang-for-the-buck headphones I have are the recabled (balanced Moon Audio Black Dragon) Sony MDR-SA5000's. Better bass punch than the R10's (yes, I have the "bass light" version); a smoother treble than the MD5000's; better clarity and less coloration than the HD650's; and more bass weight than the K1000's. Also not perfect, but for the money, these are pretty kick-ass headphones.

Oh, but the spaciousness, air, soundstaging, and beautiful midrange of the R10's...
