Sony MDR-7520

I'm starting to think about selling my 7520's and just using my T5p out and about as they are already replace by my X/XC and don't get much head time otherwise.  I find the 7520 a bit too boomy and the T5p is just all around flatter better sound and more comfortable.  I have insurance so having them nicked on tour isn't really a concern after all I have them, I should use them.

It's a different world from mine. The 7520's are my nice headphones!

That's why I only have the 7520 :) Don't need another set of full-size cans.  Maybe open cans some day, but for now I'm good.

How do we account for the discrepancy in measurements for the 7520 between Tyll and the one from 12/09/2013 (page 26 of this forum)?:

Different measuring techniques, different instruments used to measure, different dummy heads, different software probably, all leading to different levels of 'science' or 'truth'.

I don't think Tyll thinks his measuring method is perfect, (what method is perfect?) but his are widely respected since they very often reflect what people hear from their equipment.
A headphone with the first measurement (from page 26) would truly be among the very best headphones in the world. It looks too good to be true, and most probably is.

Just wanna share this...
My 7520s mesured by Sonaworks.. ( i have sent them to Riga - Latvia )
I'm fiding myself dialing the mix knob to 67% Wet, to get the ideal flat balanced sound i'm looking for...while listening to favorite "Reference" Tracks, for mastering and mixing duties..
Doing this, i'm not loosing any sonic quality of my Beloved 7520s.
The green line is the opposite Eq curve...The blue, the actual mesurement.. of "my" cans.. almost 18 Dbs at about 8KHz ...
When bybassing the plugin... it's... huh.... amazing to say the least...
I'm recently also using the usefull tilt Eq curve and bass boost. i'm not a basshead guy.. but..doing mainly Electronic stuff..

Hope this helps,

Cheers

Much appreciated, @jsblack. I wasn't asking you to hand over your calibration file just like that :) It was more a theoretical question if these files are interchangeable / shareable in a technical sense. I guess they are. Exited to hear what their answer is.

Cool, i actually own two pairs of 7520s, and they are really really close.. in term of sound signature.. so, i'm sure you'll get 95% of the "cure" :)
