Police - "Murder By Numbers"

The new Frameshift release "An Absence of Empathy" is an entire concept album from basically a murderer's point of view.

Peace,

I can't believe this one hasn't come up yet....

Somewhere a clock strikes midnight
And there's a full moon in the sky
You hear a dog bark in the distance
You hear someone's baby cry

A rat runs down the alley
And a chill runs down your spine
Someone walks across your grave
And you wish the sun would shine
No one's gonna warn you
And no one's gonna yell 'Attack'
And you don't feel the steel
Till it's hanging out your back

That's AC/DC's 'Night Prowler', btw....

There's also B.R.M.C.'s "Six Barrel Shotgun"...and who could forget "The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia"

Kinda metaphorical though, isn't it? Not sure that Freddie meant it to be taken literally, but I guess there's really no evidence to the contrary either. I always thought of it more as his own personal drama, reinventing himself as Mercury in one of the biggest bands in the world at the time. The coming to grips with his sexuality. Leaving behind the poor immigrant life. But sure, great song. Any way the wind blows, doesn't really matter to me

Two or three gangster rap albums could easily provide more examples than all the previous posts!

Now that I've had time to dig through my music, I'll put up a few more that I missed the first time around.

Megadeth - "Killing Is My Business... And Business Is Good"
AC/DC - "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap" (more obvious that Night Prowler, IMO)
Beastie Boys - "Looking Down The Barrel Of A Gun"
Judas Priest - "The Ripper"
Ministry - "So What"
Motörhead - "Killers" and "Smiling Like A Killer"
Johnny Cash - "Cocaine Blues"
Buckethead - "The Ballad of Inside-Out Face"

as performed by... Nick Cave, Johnny Cash, The Band, Bobby Bare, David Allan Coe, Lefty Frizell, etc, etc, etc...

sung by the voice of a dead man:

Quote:

Long Black Veil

Ten years ago, on a cold dark night
Someone was killed, beneath the town hall light
There were few at the scene, but they all agreed
That the slayer who ran, looked a lot like me

The judge said, "son, what is your alibi
If you were somewhere else, then you won't have to die"
I spoke not a word, though it meant my life
For I'd been in the arms of my best friend's wife

She walks these hills in a long black veil
She visits my grave when the night winds wail
Nobody knows, nobody sees
Nobody knows but me

Oh, the scaffold is high and eternity's near
She stood in the crowd and shed not a tear
But late at night, when the north wind blows
In a long black veil, she cries over my bones

She walks these hills in a long black veil
She visits my grave when the night winds wail
Nobody knows, nobody sees
Nobody knows but me

Not first person, but so stylish you might want to consider, Bobby Darin's "Mack the Knife."

And if you need to include something a little lighter, there's David Wilcox', "Blow 'em Away"

Every morning, I commute.
Mild-mannered man. In a business suit.
When I wanna come home at the end of my day
There's all these other cars stacked up in my way.
I pull up behind one
Pull out my pistol
Blow 'em away

When I'm driving my car I wanna go fast
But there's this slow car, won't let me pass
I flash my lights. I honk my horn.
Well.... I have to consider him warned.
I pull up behind him
Pull out my pistol
Blow 'em away

Jesse James behind the wheel
It's high noon in my automobile
You call me crazy,
You call me sick

Yeah, I got to get to where I'm going to quick
Son of a bitch, he cut me off.
Three whole lanes he pulled across
Made me mad. Made me swerve.
Son of a bitch got what he deserved.
I pulled up behind him
Pulled out my pistol
Blew 'em away.

Oh, look He's splittin' lanes, if you know what I mean
This cuttin' in line that's an act of war
I saw him comin'. I opened my door.
Knocked him over
Pulled out my pistol
Blew 'em away

Jesse James behind the wheel
It's high noon in my automobile
You call me crazy,
You call me sick

Yeah, I got to get to where I'm going to quick
Little ol' lady, bless her heart.
She's walkin' her poodle 'cross the boulevard.
It was wearin' a red knit sweater, little knitted hat
Probably named "Fifi" or somethin' stupid like that!
I say, "Here Fifi"
Pulled out my pistol
Blew it away
