Sometimes it's not the system...

I've heard the 650 of a variety of equipment. Just to list some of the amps -- Corda HA-1, Gilmore v.1, Bada, PPX, MPX, Supra, Max, the new Max, the new, balanced max. I'm sure there have been more. While I've liked the 650s on a few of these more than the others (The supra and balanced max come to mind), they still sound like the 650s. If the 650s had to be my sole headphone, I'd want a balanced max to use with them, but I'd rather just go with another headphone and lesser amplificaiton because to me, that would sound better.

So, does amplification make a difference, absolutely... but I agree, any particular headphone is not for everybody.

The thing is, he's not joking. Look at his sig, he's listed members he think are knowledgeable.

So what you're actually saying is that few people know how to use their ears.
I think you can't, in all reasonability, make such a statement on a board. You don't even know the persons you're putting aside as unable.
I feel it's very hard to communicate to someone about sound in person, let alone by text.
I do agree that some label different things as better, but that's taste. I have no problem with difference in taste, just find it hard to read all the 'your equipment isn't up to standards' comments people make.

"Mule Variations" is a great headphone album (as is Bone Machine)!

Yep!

Bone Machine, you say...? Thank you, I don't have it, I'll grab it as I see it around...

It looks awfully arrogant in type, doesn't it? Nevertheless, I stand by it 100%... especially as I didn't say few do. I said many don't.
