And I just came.

I don't need to say anything else, you guys know the drill already.

Maybe Head-fi needs to find a sponsor that manufactures tissues, or paper towels....

Hi I wanted to share my experience.
I received my denon d2000 headphones last week from amazon. I put them on my ears right out of the box. first impressions, they sounded harsh, any words that began with an S sound hurt. The bass was all over the place and unfocused. time to burn them in. after 25hrs the harshness I was hearing before went away but the bass was still a little overpowering. after 100hrs of burning in, the bass is perfect now, and sounds amazing, never overpowering but always there when u need it. I have never heard drum cymbols so clear. out of all the headphones I own, Senn 595, dt770, px100, shure e2c, the denons are now my favorite. also I'm using a headsix amp.

Great! I hope I have the same reaction. I've been burning mine in since Wednesday night... haven't listened to them in the meantime, so hopefully I should notice a difference.

I was one of those people who had to use a towel when I had my D2000, but now I'm using that towel after I upgraded to a Stax SR-Lambda and adaptor setup. The Stax setup is cheaper than my D2000 + iBasso D2 Boa combo and it's miles ahead of it too.

Does the Stax setup produce decent bass though (I'm a basshead!)?

The bass has very good definition, a lot more controlled than the d2000 which is simply completely out of control at times and gave me headaches. However, the bass impact of the SR-Lambda suits me just fine although I'm not a basshead.

Well it looks like I'll keep the D2000s then. I just love bass. But I'm not going to downgrade to the DT770s just for bass.

Slow down.
OP started with the towel, now he is considering selling the Denon
