So my DT770's broke this past weekend, and now I'm in the market for a new pair.


I currently have a pair of Shure E4c's and they do a great job, but I was contemplating getting a new pair of DT770's (which I loved) or some other headphone.

I was also thinking about getting a pair of Klipsch Promedia 2.1 speakers instead.


First, I see headroom is out of the DT770 - is there a reason? Are new ones coming soon?

Second, how do the HD595's compare to the DT770?

Third, I play games (FPS and WoW along with RTS's) and listen to mainly rock (Foo Fighters, Linkin Park, Bare Naked Ladies, etc) and rap (Lupe Fiasco, Kanye West), should I get a pair of headphones? Or should I save 150 and get the Klipsch? I know this is a personal question, but I'd like to see your opinions.

Fourth, any other headphones that I should be looking at?

hd595 will not satisfy u in the bass department, coming from the dt770s. also, if i were u i'd just get the promedia 2.1 unless you needed headphones (in which case i'd probably go for the dt770 again).

I own the promedia 2.1 and have owned the dt770. I find now that I have nicer headphones, I use the speakers less. Also, unless your computer has a pretty good sound card, I would skip the promedia's. They need a clean source.

Can't you just re-terminate the 3.5mm stereo jack plug or re-solder at the driver end? What do you mean by they broke?

if you liked the dt770s, just get another pair? you can find them used on the forum at a nice price, i'm sure.. that place is a hotspot for those, in and out


and how did you break yours?!?! I've seen photos of them being run over my a car and being fine!

iirc, michael manny at beyer usa will fix them for $25 plus parts and shipping.

long story short - i put them in my backpack, which I set behind my dad's car.

i went inside to go get something and I thought my dad had put it in the trunk...yeah, he didnt.


It's in about 1000 pieces right now, and the only thing that I can distinguish is the letter 'D'.
