I'm also wondering.... Now that it's out and in people's hands, what are your impressions? I'm sure someone will be testing the DAC output on the 5S soon to see if it is an improvement over the 5. It seems Apple's audio output quality has been going down since the 4, I hope this finally puts them back into something that can be considered great audio. From what I have read the 5 did not have a very impressive DAC.
The teardown of the 5S revealed a new chip being used for their DAC. Most likely it is still Cirrus Logic though, which is fine as long as they get back to the quality of the iPhone 4 output which used the same manufacturer.
Make that three people who are curious. I have a sort-of related question... I've looked at a couple of other threads about this, but I still don't get it.
Using the 5 or 5s, can you still use the direct line-out to plug into an amp like you could with the iPhone 4?
