After these responses I am strongly considering buying the E5. However, I would like to know what I'm getting into. If I use to E5 to amplify the sound from my sound card, will there be a noticeable dip in quality?

They ship from Hong Kong. Mine shipped on Dec 8 and I received them on the 24th. That's 12 business days. From what I recall, that shipping method takes 7-14 business days.

You can upgrade to EMS shipping, but it's an additional $15, for a $25 amp.

The E5 will do the trick, but beware that any amp will color the sound, and you may not like the new color. If you're more concerned with maintaining audio quality you might want to consider a slightly better amp, like a Cmoy (you can build yourself or buy pre-built for ~$50, more for improved versions). I prefer the sound of my CmoyBB but the E5 is more convenient.
