I was wondering if anyone has ever tried these. I am sure that they are not audiophile quality sound, as they are targeted towards snowboarders and skateboarders, but I was wondering if they are worth the money just a for a fun sounding pair of headphones that can really pump the bass. They have a battery powered amp to drive their internal 'subwoofers' which are supposed to feel like you are listening to a real sub. They can be had for only $40 at amazon.com and I am somewhat interested in trying them out just to see how they sound.

if you really want something under 40 to pump the bass, the portapro/sportapro/ksc-35/ksc-75 line of Koss cans are the way to go. those drivers will do the trick, and still sound amazing. the skullcrushers? i wouldn't go near em - check the search function, the reviews have not been glowing.

The "Bass Amplified Subwoofer" logo on the arm scared me away.

Besides, that looks like something that other kids my age would get.

looks just like my panasonic rpht970, which by no means is an audiophile headphone, but should make computer gaming fun. looks like they also use separate drivers for bass (really more like vibrations).
