Right beside you, honey.
Hello,

I am quite interested in purchasing some tracks off of Mora, but they don't allow anyone else out of Japan to purchase in their fine establishment.

But of course, now I'm just stuck here wanting to just buy a few tracks just to see what's up with their "hi-res" files up for purchase.

So I'm asking, are there any sites that also offer "hi-res" audio files?

Also, please no comments on how it's a gimmick and how "YOU'RE WASTING YOUR MONEY" and torrent sites and of the such.

Thanks!

Site is here: http://mora.jp/

I purchase from http://ototoy.jp (did again just moments ago actually, downloading 4.7GB at the moment), and they allow credit cards outside Japan.  Good luck :)

One small caveat: if the release contains a "Japan-only" bonus track, you have to be in Japan to order said release (e.g. 'Damogen Furies' by Squarepusher).

I successfully purchased 'OAT' by Merzbow in DSD+MP3 a while back with no issues (payment/download).

Couldn't really find the albums that I wanted. Know any more sites?

e-onkyo (www.e-onkyo.com) has a few

Although they do regioning they only employ a very simple IP filtering scheme and nothing else, unlike mora which actually checks your credit card issue country.  So using a free VPN can easily get around the issue.  I've purchased around 20 or so tracks from them outside of Japan with no issue.

Could you tell me which VPN you used?

You should read about VPN from http://www.vpngate.net/en/.

There is also http://hd-music.info, which feature mostly music from Victor Studio, but you can also find those on mora. To buy from Mora outside Japan, you need to use VPN or proxy. Once, you get VPN set up, you can buy Mora Music Card from place like Japan Code to use instead of a Japanese credit card for paying. It is a pain and costly, but it is the only way to go if you want mainstream Hi-Res Japanese music legally.

However, I suggest you give artists on Ototoy a try. Ototoy mostly features non-mainstream and indies Japanese artist, probably the reason that you cannot find those you like. However, I find most of the music on the site good and interesting.
