Singxer SU-6

Last week I spent quite some time hunting blur in the soundstage. And I had the suspension that vibration reaching the SU-6 caused the problem. I already had the SU-6 sitting on a big concret stone isolated from the floor by sorbothan feet.
A cupple of weeks ago I took the sand filling out of my SU-6 to make some modification on the PCB, but I never filled it back up.
Yesterday I filled it back up again with sand. And surprise surprise , a very very clear difference !!!
Soundstage becomes deeper, wider, more focused, and timbre deeper and more solid.
That was a good beginning.
Next I exchanged the sorbothan feet agenst softer less damped elastomeric DIY feet. And again things got better.
Then I added a second concret stone to bring mass up, and the corner frequency of the platform down. Big difference again.
Next experiment was attaching the SU-6 to the two stones with bluetak. Again big difference. Brings human body and weight.
Took vibration out of the cable's going to the SU-6. Brings clearnes in glockenspiel an cymbals.
Instrument location and separation is now 1° - 2 ° . I am very happy with the results :)
This lesson thot me that vibration control is one of the most extreme mod's there are for the SU-6, and the LKS 004.

I've also run into another issue with the su-6. Whenever my computer goes to sleep, it loses the USB connection. I've already disabled the USB suspend option but i have to unplug and plug in the USB everyday. Anyone else have this issue?

Yes, I have to do this everytime I connect to my laptop in order for Windows to see the SU-6

I posted the same question before. My guess is Singxer’s windows asio driver doesn’t support 32 bit
That setting is meant for a different purpose.

Vintage DACs can lock up if sent 24bit wordlength samples and hence a setting for 16bit is needed to prevent this.
16 bit Philips TDA1541 fleabay specials are notorious for this kind of behavior.

If you can get native non-DOP DSD running on your setup, you can do a 32bit wordlength on your SU-6.

You can also try the 32bit DXD sample I referenced earlier.
If you know how to use a USB packet sniffer, use it to examine the actual data transfer check for the wordlength used.

Connect your SU-6 to a powered USB hub, it keeps the USB XMOS chip inside the SU-6 alive when you laptop goes to sleep.
Implicit in this is you keep power on the hub.

Flaky USB behavior when the host goes into powersave is not unique to the SU6, my SU1 and SU2 have the same issue.
SU2 being the worst requiring multiple insertion/removal attempts.

Audiophile alternatives to a hub also exist if you want to spend the money.

That makes sense.

Hi - I am researching DDCs to go between my desktop PC & Denafrips Venus 2. Many people agree that Singxer - SU6 USB is the best DDC and I don't want to get a Denafrips DDC because their USB driver disables the PC master volume.

However, before I buy I want to confirm compatibility of SU6 I2S o/p with Denafrips DACs. Can anyone confirm that Singxer - SU6 USB works OK with Denafrips DAC via I2S.

thanks

I connected a Pontus 2 and Venus 2 with SU6 via I2S and it worked as intended. Highly recommended

I have the SU-6 and the Gaia. Both work into my Terminator plus by i2s but the Gaia sounds far better.
What do they do differently to your ears?

Are you sending the clock signals from the T+ to the Gaia - if so, would it be possible for you tell us how the Gaia & SU6 compare without this additional measure. For those of us without the T+ this will be a more meaningful comparison.
