Stumbling towards enlightenment
(Formerly known as kayandjohn.)
I have a DAC with USB input, I have an amp, but I am looking for a way to read the digital, pre-DAC output that comes from a CD.
I suspect that rack-sized audiophile CD players have that capability, but I am looking for something portable.
One option that occurs to me is the $100 CD / DVD USB peripheral that you can get for your notebook. They hook up by USB, they put out a digital stream, and they play CDs.
Is there a way to hook that up to my USB input on my DAC (inclined to just do it, but I doubt it would be that simple). Probably no way to control transport unless I actually hooked it up to a PC, but is there a simpler way?
Thanks!
