I must say I'm impressed. This new case is soft and about the same size as the hard case. I find it zips closed and opens much easier than the hard case. Sometimes I find closing the hard one to be a bit of a chore. No problems like that with this little jewel. It even has a mini mesh storage compartment for your extra tips! Want to clip your IEM's to your belt loop or some other ring? Not a problem there either. This one comes with a clip for just such a need! Granted this case is soft but given the functionality and flexibility, I think it will replace my hard case for travel. Highly recommended!

As for the tips, I'm going to pop on a medium and a small tonight to see which I find gives me the best fit and comfort.

Many thanks to Sugarfried/Matt for his assistance in getting me set up before my trip this weekend. If only every manufacturer/dealer could give such SUPERB service, what a wonderful thing it would be.

Shure has made an effort to help people and the word on this forum is good.
They have been great to deal with for me.

I absolutely want it. It's such a pain to zip up the hard case.

I don't see this as being a very good move, I can't imagine a soft case offering the same type of protection the hard case does. I would think a hard case like the original would be much harder to find via 3rd party whereas it would be much easier to find a soft one.

I suppose it is all relative. Depends on how you transport/treat you gear.

If you plan on putting the case in your jeans pockets, or are generally kind of 'rough' with your gear, then yeah, the hard case would be a better choice for protecting the contents. If you carry them in a zippered compartment in a backpack, a briefcase, or a dedicated bag made for carrying headphones (like I do), then the soft case should provide more than enough protection.

I would agree though that finding a 3rd party hard case is probably more difficult than finding a soft one.

I bolded the word should to emphasize my point. I transport mine in the hard case within a zippered compartment of my briefcase/bag but still personally I wouldn't want to chance having my rather expensive IEM's damaged simply because they were in a soft case as opposed to a hard case. Hard or soft is really going to come down to personal preference though but I still think it's better to start with the hard included and if you prefer to chance it buy a soft separately.

I too prefer the hard case so I can have peace of mind whenever I store the phones. Wished they they revised the hard case, adding a compartment. Still haven't got hold of the new foamies though

i have so many of those hard cases, i think i have 2 with the spool, i never use them...but that soft case looks sweet...nifty little thing...but i think placing them with the spool wouldn't damage them at all, theres also a little opening to place the heads in the middle

I sure wish that hardcase was easier to open and close but I'm also not worried about crushing my phones when I throw them in a bag.

I know the hard round case came with or without the spool but I'm not sure about the oval one. None of mine have it. Seems like it might be a problem for the thicker cables.
