WOW i just got these and right out of the box they sound great! i didnt expect this kind of sound from $89 headphones, Great tight bass great highs. no amp no burning in, these are way better then the Denon d1001.

Build quality:
1. Overall casing is sturdy and feels really nice, no cheap plastic here.
2. Great wire quality! very nice detachable wire long enough to be in the house and on the go.

3. Comfortable on the head and ears.
4. Isolates noise pretty well
5. Doest no leak any noise! The d2k are like speakers compared to these.

And these are in no way in the same category as the SRH240! very awful sound.
Im happy

Good to hear that you liked the SRH440

How would you rate the portability of this headphone compared to the D1001? Also, it looked like there were hinges on the upper part of the 440's cups, so does that mean the entire cups can be folded upwards towards the headband?

d1001- 8 out of 10
D2k- 2 out of 10

They remind me of a Sony MDR-V6... a lot.

I want to get a listen to the 440 to find out if it will be the MDR-V6 killer. It could do it, and oh what a happy day that would be. I don't like the V6, it's a horrible headphone for music listening.

Haha ultra-compact then hey!

Wow I'm quite surprised you rate the D1001 and D2000 so differently. As far as I've read on head-fi, nearly everyone who upgraded from the D1001 to D2000 has loved the D2000..

What don't you like about them?

EDIT: I think I read your D2000 thread and remember you saying something about the bad cable and build quality. But what about SQ wise?

The sound quality is good ive burned them in for 24 hours but yeah the cable and the fact that they are like speakers (leaking a lot of sound)

Maybe i need an amp thats all.. but i think im liking the 440 more

ill have to listen to both tomorrow again.

Those ratings are referring only to their portability right?

Anyway, nice work on the photos and unboxing vids.

Regarding srh 440 vs. v6/7506, have you done a direct comparison? I'm looking for v6 killers myself.

Also, from what I've seen in your coverage of the 440s they look really good. I think I prefer their styling to the "blinged out" 840. The only thing I'm not digging is the excessive branding on the headband. I also think it would be nicer if the underside of the headband would have been like the 840s. I might have to make a few calls and see if I can audition the 440s somewhere.
