Shure SRH1540 Review

I saw some recommendations for replacing the alpha pads. Personally, I don't think it's worth it, the cans lost a lot of their open sound, which was a big dealbreaker for me. Bass seemed a little more muddled to me personally, although stronger as well. Can't wait to try these with a promper dac/amp a

Great cans, but wont fit properly on large heads.

Large heads may have to wear them so that headband rests on the front edge/end of the head

I've noticed this also...I love mine but I guess I have a large head ...May I ask what Over Ear headphones you might also have that fit well? I have HD650's and feel that they fit perfectly!

I second this notion.  I currently use my fiio e17k + e09k and this set up work very well! The added power does help the 1540 reach another level of refinement.

The 1540s are sole over ear set of phones and nothing has tempted me to make a jump to something more expensive yet. I feel they're severely under-appreciated/rated in audiophile communities from what I've seen. Granted I have a bias because I own them, but they are a phenomenal set of closed cans! Come on, let's reignite some chat revolving around these so I have a thread to participate in ;D

To you other 1540 owners, what's your current component setup? They definitely benefit from amping imo.
