Is the Shure SE530 worth almost 3 times as much as its little cousin, the
SE115?

Does it sound that much better?

I own the SE115, and IMHO they are a bit better than the S4.(clarity and comfort wise)

Thanks

Sounds more than 4 times better, so if you're getting at 3 times the price you got is a bargin

I'm scared to ever put any money into Shure after wasting my cash on the SE210s.

Companies like Shure and Sennheiser make some interesting choices with their low-end models. It would seem to be a hindrance to brand loyalty to make anything that sounds terrible, even if it is cheap. Some of the low end Sennheisers are just really bad. I have never heard the low end Shures but I'm sure I'd hate them just like everyone else does.

SE210's are nothing like the SE530's. The 210's are a pile of dog...well you get the idea

There is a major difference in sq between 115 and 530.

Well I quite liked my old e2c's.

But the SE530's are in a different league, and as such I would expect to have lay out more £££ (or $$$).

my 530's broke when just out of warranty so I'm going with IE7's now. The rubber on the cord became stripped/exposing the copper :/ shame about the build quality - they did sound good though.

I own the SE110 and SE310 and the SE530s and there is NO comparison. The SE530s are way, way, way, way better and totally worth it!

+1, only replace se210 with e2c.

Even between e2c and scl4 (same as old e4c/similar to se310 i think?) is a big difference. Personally I still like to listen to my scl4 a lot even though I have the 530, just for the different sound. The main difference from 310 to 530 for me is the bass that is missing from the 310. The 420 lies somewhere in between in bass and might have a bit more detail than the 530 IMO (was certainly less forgiving of low bitrate). But the 530 definitely has the fullest sound of them all. I rather miss the more neutral sound of the 420 though.

It's too bad I lost my 420 so I will probably never directly compare but I was far more impressed when I went from e2c to 420 (HUGE difference) than when I got my 530 after having been using scl4 for a while (same sound, but with more bass).
