Hi dave and thanks for the reply.
I own, both rockboxed 4g and 5g ipod and i'm thinking about fiio x5 when it will be relased.
I listen every music's genre.
I was impressed because the xba4 were so expensive when relased and a flagship sony's product, so I don't know what to do.

Hello!

I have a XBA-4 which I really like it for it's spacious soundstage in IEM, details and the bass extends deep down! I'm pretty sure you will get better mids on the Shure.

And like what Dave said, the XBA-4 are really really source dependant! Tried it with 7 source and they sound different from one another! The impedance is at 8Ohm therefore, it is best to use source with output impedance at less than 1 Ohm! The iPod you mentioned have about 5 Ohm if I remember so you will for sure get thin out bass and real loud sound with the XBA-4!

Hope it helps!
Billson :)
