Hello,

are there any opionions on the Shure PTH?
I thought about ordering one, because it's really annoying to peel out my UE-11 everytime someone just wants to ask me for a lighter or so.

So is it worth the money (~ 70€ over here)? Does it affect SQ?

I've got UE11s and the PTH - it worked well enough when I tried it out briefly. I wasn't listening critically, but I didn't notice it degrading the sound quality.

I don't use it much because:

a) It's pretty chunky. It's much bigger than a mobile phone hands free kit (if that's what you're expecting)

b) It's not light (weight-wise)

It also requires takes 1 x AAA battery.

Well, me again:
From a technical point, does it make more sense to use it
this way:
DAP > PTH > AMP > HEADPHONES
or that way:
DAP > AMP > PTH > HEADPHONES

?

DAP > AMP > PTH > Headphones would be the correct way. It's just another link in the headphone cord, if you care to look at it that way.

Well, maybe it makes those people around me sound less stupid.
...darn, I should get a better cable, too. With some luck I'll only be asked philosophic questions from then on. Awesome

Think of the PTH as a muting device. Push the button to mute the music. Push it again to turn the music back on. You are not amplifing the voice. No reason to feed an amp with the PTH. Are you trying to mute the music or the amp?

I suggest you check out the Shure website to see how they have illustrated the use of the PTH.
