my hd600 is busted...gonna try to sell it to make enough for a new one or something else. The right side has no sound, not sure if its a cord or the earcup itself yet, waiting for word from sennheiser if they can repair or not.

Well, the story is that the right can went out completely. The original cord was damaged, and my replacement cord was buggy and glitching in and out. So I am really unsure if it was the cords or the can. So I sent it in and am now waiting on it. How much are you offering :p

they are in A+ condition and they arent even fully burnt in

I know where that problem is. theres a hair thin wire inside that connects the cables to the driver that might be disconnected. Thats what happened with my hd580s

I believe TheMarchingmule had both, and he ended up selling the HD600's. If you look in the SRH840 impression thread I believe he did a comparison of the two. It'll largely depend on what type of sound you like and whether you want open or closed headphone, though.

I've compared both and prefer the HD600 by a wide margin. The neutrality of the HD600 definitely won me over. I also found the SRH840 to be somewhat uncomfortable after 45 minutes of continuous use - moisture, heat, and pressure from the headband. There's no question the the SRH840 is a great HP and has certainly won the hearts of many, but to my ear the HD600 is a better set of cans.

That sounds right. I'll know when I get my SRH840.

I have the 600s and I just ordered the SRH840s. I should have them tomorrow.
But this isn't really a fair comparison. I'm not expecting the 840s to rival the 600s.

your thoughts on both?

I have only heard the HD600s for about 15 minutes, but I do currently own the HD650 (pretty similar sound) and have previously owned the SRH840s and IMO, the HD600/HD650s spank the Shures.

There really is no comparison here. If you want a really good Shure product go with the SE530s. While the SRH840s were good mid-fi headphones (for $150-$200), I thought that they were in no way in the same class as the Senn HD600/HD650, Beyer DT880, K701, etc...
