Hi. I've been here a while but only swing by when pertinent
I currently rock an iriver H340 I've loved for geez... 5 years now I think.
I am on my second pair of Sennheiser PX100s. The first pair the headband wouldn't hold a size smaller than giant (loose), so I had them replaced.
I've had the current pair for about 4 years. They are dying.
The right ear gets buzzy if loud, cracks if it is something with too much bass. The foam covers abandoned me about 4 months ago. There are a couple of cracks in the cord that I gorgeously covered with electrical tape.
The last straw though is that the right ear is now detaching. I have it taped on. I had used a bunsen burner (I work in a lab) to try to glue them together, which worked for a short while but not when I go outside in the cold (I live in MN)
Oddly I prefer to use these than to use a pair of functioning cheaper headphones.
I listen to all kinds of music, and I just love the phones. But the time has come. looked into replacement, but it looks like on Amazon the price went up 8O. That makes my brain angry, to pay more for "older tech"
So, time to shop!
- Sounds as good or better/more realistic than my PX100s. I listen to all kinds of music.
- Open air- I wear them at work (the lab again) and like it when people can still talk to me. They have all adapted to this. However I use headphones so that they don't have to hear what I'm listening to. They are slightly hard of hearing though, so some noise leakage not a problem. Also I walk to and from my car a distance (yay campus parking) so I like to hear vehicles and not get hit.
- About or under 100 dollars. Preferably at the 70 or so mark, but I'm flexible. I will get the years out of it.
-Cute. I'm 27 and a girl. At least a modicum of style, please.
- No amp needed.
- Prefer on ear (surpa-aural?) to around the ear (circum-aural?), but if they're bigger then they just have to be that much cuter (and lighter) to not make me look like a weirdo. Suggest one of each I guess.
